If you live outside Mexborough, you will register as an out-of-area patient.
Important, please read before registering:
- You can still access our same day Accurx appointment system
- Out-of-area patients cannot receive home visits from the practice
- You must be able to travel to the surgery for any face-to-face appointments
- Not recommended if you are housebound or have significant mobility issues

Do I have to leave my old GP?
Yes. Registering with us transfers your NHS GP care to Mexborough Medical Practice. You can switch again in future if you wish.
How quickly will I be registered?
We aim to confirm registrations within 24 hours (Monday to Friday).
I live outside Mexborough, can I still register?
Yes. We accept patients across Yorkshire as out-of-area patients.
No home visits are available for out-of-area patients, and you must be able to travel to the surgery for face-to-face appointments. It is not recommended to register if you are housebound or have significant mobility issues.
When can I contact the practice?
Once registered, you can message us on Accurx during opening hours (Monday to Friday) for advice, prescriptions and appointment requests.
Accurx is not monitored 24/7. For urgent medical help when we are closed, use NHS 111. For emergencies, call 999.

Can I register as a patient if I live out of area?
Yes, as long as you are able to attend Mexborough Medical Practice for blood tests and face-to-face appointments when needed.
How do I get a face-to-face appointment?
When submitting a request, please state that you would like to be seen in person and our team will be happy to arrange it.
How do I see a healthcare professional?
When requesting an appointment, let us know the reason for your appointment so you can be booked with the most suitable healthcare professional, which includes GPs, nurses and allied health professionals. All urgent issues are dealt with on the same day. Our trained care navigation team will advise you of the most suitable options.
Do I need to join if I am healthy?
We would definitely recommend it. Knowing you have a team in place that can get back to you quickly provides reassurance and reduces worry if illness does happen.
